I agree with everyone here, nothing more for her. I guess my question is, what about YOUR peace? Keeping quiet while you are raging with anger will not result with any sense of peace for you.<\/p>\n

Does your peace matter to you? If it does, then giving into her shameless behavior with money or silence is absolutely the wrong way to go. Give yourself peace and drop MIL at the curb.<\/p>\n

Then I\u00a0got a\u00a0call from an\u00a0attorney.<\/p>\n

Apparently, my\u00a0husband had a\u00a0second trust. $250,000. I\u00a0had no\u00a0idea.<\/p>\n

It\u00a0was set up\u00a0through his law firm, and it\u00a0was very intentional.<\/p>\n

He\u00a0wrote it\u00a0so\u00a0that if\u00a0his mother left the original $50k alone, she and our daughter would split the second trust 50\/50 when our daughter turned 18. BUT.<\/p>\n

If\u00a0she touched the first account? Took even a\u00a0dime that wasn\u2019t for college?\u00a0She\u2019d lose her entire share.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The law firm had been quietly monitoring the account.<\/p>\n

She started draining it\u00a0three months after he\u00a0passed. They documented everything.<\/p>\n

Her greed triggered the clause. Result: My\u00a0daughter gets the full $250k.<\/p>\n

MIL gets $0. Her greed literally cost her $125,000.<\/p>\n

Your husband knew his mother well. And if anyone turned her son against her, it was her and her greed. She obviously doesnt care about her grand daughter, cause if she did she wouldn\u2019t have touched that money.<\/p>\n

You did nothing wrong. And I hate that \u201cto keep the peace\u201d it just means bending over backwards for AH\u2019s. If you give her some of that money, you would be hurting your relationship with your daughter.<\/p>\n
