Bobby J. Brown, known for his role as Officer Bobby Brown in The Wire, died at age 62 after a tragic barn fire in Maryland caused by smoke inhalation and thermal injuries, ruled an accident by officials. He was inside a barn trying to jump-start a vehicle when the fire suddenly spread. His wife was hospitalized with burns while attempting to rescue him.
Brown appeared in several TV projects including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and We Own This City, as well as shows like Homicide: Life on the Street, The Corner, and Veep. Before acting, he was a professional boxer and Golden Gloves champion, later turning to acting after being inspired by the film Homeboy.
Fans and colleagues remembered him as a talented and authentic performer whose work, especially on The Wire, left a lasting impact on television. Brown is survived by his wife and children.
